As I Looked Out Of My House At The Snow Today I Saw How Fortunate I Was To Work From My House
Posted by admin in Jobs and CareersEarly this morning, when I awoke, I opened the bedroom blinds and looked out on a deep covering of snow. There were very few footprints yet, this was new snow which had fallen overnight. It looked like a picture, from inside my warm house.
My car was covered in snow and I thought how lucky I was that I Work From Home and did not need to spend quarter of an hour or more, scraping snow and ice from my car ahead of setting out to work, making sure the windscreen washer was not empty and could clear the dirt from the windscreen, heating up the seats of the car too, all prior to even starting my journey into the office.
Once off the drive, I would be met with the snow dance in the car. Hoping the tyres were going to hold the road and not have me spinning into the path of oncoming vehicles, or brakes not stopping the car because of black ice. No, I am part of the Internet Business, so am at liberty to stay indoors when the snow has fallen. I can sit in my snuggly pyjamas and dressing gown, drinking coffee while I tackle those Online Jobs which have come in overnight and then, when all my neighbours have left and are on their way to the office, I can take a break to enjoy the snow.
My kids love snowball fights, sledging and building snowmen, so that is what we do. The chance to Work From Home gives me this flexibility. I can work from early in the day, take a breather in the middle and then work later in the evening, if that matches my family best. So, with no feeling of guilt, I park the Online Jobs which I have not yet finished, get dressed in warm clothes, wrap the children up in hats, scarves and gloves and out we go.
A few hours later, we are all set to return to the house having loved our time in the snow. A warm drink and something to eat and I return to my Internet Business. I can now get back to my daily tasks, having been energized by my time playing with the family. They are happy to entertain themselves for a while now to allow me to get on with my jobs, so we all gain.
Had I not been privileged enough to Work From Home, I would have in all probability left my home while it was still dark to get to the office, then because it is winter and the nights draw in early, it would be dark when I arrived home. I would be promising my family that if the snow was still there at the weekend we could have fun in it together, but there would be no certainty, of course, that the snow would still be there at the weekend and we would all feel thwarted.
I, however, could run my Internet Business at hours that fit in with me and my family, so playing in the snow, when it is there, and work on those Online Jobs when we are done having fun is a real bonus for us. I love the fact that I am one of the privileged ones who found a job working from the house, which gives a good living and at the same time gives me the flexibility to enjoy time with my kids whenever we want, and work early hours or late, depending on our current requirements.
